Along with the Series 6 Smart Watch, the newest Apple iPad Air was one of the highlights of today’s event. The reveal of the new device doesn’t come as much of a shock, as many anticipated the possibility of a new tablet. The seventh generation of iPads launched last year, in September, but this new one boosts the CPU by 40% and has a 30% improvement on graphics, thanks to the hexacore A14 Bionic processor.
Other improvements over last year’s model include an upgraded 12MP rear camera and 7MP front-facing camera. The rear will be able to shoot at 4K/60FPS, while the front will use Smart HDR to record video at 1080p/60FPS. Instead of the old lightning port, the new iPad Air uses USB-C, which is 10times faster at transferring data. It also uses LTE at an improved speed, as well as Wi-Fi 6 (not quite Wi-Fi 6e).
The new iPad Air will also support both Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. Enthusiasts will get to choose from Space Gray, Silver, Sky Blue, Green, and Rose Gold options.
