Since the release of Apex Legends in February 2019, the maps included in the battle royale’s rotation have featured lava that often ushers in the downfall of players that are trying to rotate into the ring as the storm closes in. Vantage is a hero that was introduced to the game with Apex Legends Season 14, and she has a useful tactical ability that lets her escape from sticky situations like the lava that more easily endangers other characters. Reddit user NootoriousPingu has found a unique way of bringing downed players back from the lava by using a Vantage trick that may become common as more Apex Legends players are exposed to it.

NootoriousPingu’s Apex Legends clip illustrating Vantage’s lava technique begins with the player approaching the lava fissure in the ground of World’s Edge near the fragmented Capitol City. Looking at their Apex Legends squadmate that has been killed by the river of lava, NootoriousPingu shows that Vantage’s tactical ability Echo Relocation can be used on the fallen player. After propelling Vantage towards their ally’s death box, NootoriousPingu specifies that Apex Legends players will want to spam the interact button in order to properly retrieve their teammate’s banner card so that they can be revived at a respawn station.

Vantage has a very limited time to interact with the death box during Echo Relocation because of the animation associated with it, and NootoriousPingu has stated that jumping at any point during this process may make it slower or result in an untimely death. According to NootoriousPingu, their technique works in multiple locations and their clip shows the player successfully reaching their ally from multiple angles to prove that the Vantage trick isn’t a one-off. This technique can be used to save teammates anywhere in the lava except for in the Harvester POI of World’s Edge which will kill any Apex Legends hero, Vantage included.

One player suggested doing the tactical ability differently, but NootoriousPingu had already accounted for alternate methods and discovered that any changes to the movement or order would stop players from reaching the death box. While some players stated that they’ve never had a problem with falling into the lava, others suggested that their teammates will have to play as Apex Legends’ Vantage in order to save them similar to the squad member in NootoriousPingu’s video.

Apex Legends is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
