Apex Legends has a rocky history with cheaters in the game using exploits to give themselves a competitive edge in the popular battle royale. Respawn has previously banned hundreds of thousands of cheaters from the popular battle royale, as well as many exploiting peculiarities within the game’s system like the “infinite RP” glitch discovered late last year. While Apex has managed to punish many players looking to gain unfair benefits, the prevalence of third-party software has seen plenty more cheaters emerge over the years. In a recent match in the game’s Predator rank, however, several teams came together to take down a team of cheaters.

A video posted to the Apex Legends subreddit shows the chaotic match as four different squads teamed up to duke it out with a squad of players caught using both aimbots and speed hacks. The separate teams even shared restoration items like med kits and shield cells as they grouped together to attempt to take down the cheaters in spite of the inherent advantage provided by the third-party programs. While the player’s team did ultimately fall to the cheating players, the combined squad of 12 players was able to successfully knock out one of the cheaters.
While Apex Legends has struggled to deal with cheaters throughout the game’s massively successful three-year run, the recent launch has only seen Respawn’s woes with players looking to exploit the game’s newest version. Recent videos from Apex Legends Mobile players have shown the mobile battle royale is already dealing with cheaters using both aimbots and wallhacks in the mobile version’s limited regional launch. Many fans have called on Respawn for stronger anti-cheat software like those used in Valorant and Rainbow Six Siege.
Though cheaters have still been a prominent nuisance within the game’s community, Apex Legends has continued to push forward as the game recently revealed plenty of new content for its upcoming competitive season, Apex Legends: Saviors. The new season will introduce pre-existing legend Bangalore’s brother Newcastle as the newest legend to join the game as well as an overhaul to the game’s Storm Point, possibly adding a new PvE boss monster. Apex Legends’ newest season will look to provide similarly strong updates to past ones as Respawn continues its ongoing battle with cheaters.
