Comparing the launch roster of Apex Legends to its additions since show a huge disparity in abilities, but perhaps nowhere is it worse than Pathfinder. This day one recon legend used to be the only who could use survey beacons and see the next ring, but that ability has since been shifted to every recon character in Apex Legends. Pathfinder’s tactical cools down and ultimate fully charges when he uses a survey beacon, but that’s not that much of a passive. As a result, Pathfinder has been hailed as one of many characters like Crypto who have lackluster passives that aren’t even worth considering a passive.

Many have speculated on how these issues could be fixed, but in the case of Pathfinder, Redditor Wicked-Death has come up with a pretty interesting concept. The thing about fan ideas is that they can often end up being overpowered, yet this Pathfinder ability could be added to the other benefits of his passive and make him stand out compared to other recon legends. In short, the idea is that Pathfinder and his team could see the first circle when dropping at the start of the match.

After all, with how it works, it’s entirely possible to land on the wrong side of the map and have to compete with other teams against the closing ring. It’s part of the game, but an Apex Legends squad with Pathfinder wouldn’t have to worry about that with this ability. They could land in or close to the ring and, at least early on, have a better positioning than other teams. That all changes, of course, as the ring closes, but it would make an even more compelling argument with Pathfinder.

The thing is, Pathfinder is already a popular legend despite the lackluster passive. That’s because of his tactical and ultimate abilities to some degree, but also because the cheerful robot has a one-of-a-kind personality. This popularity may be one reason his passive has yet to be addressed in Apex Legends, but hopefully, Respawn does something for the legend down the road.
