The Nintendo Switch version of the battle royale was originally expected to launch last fall. The Switch port of Apex Legends was originally announced all the way back in June. However, after the initial announcement, EA and Respawn went relatively quiet. In October, when a Twitter follower asked Grenier if the project got completely scrapped, he assured them that the game was still on the way. However, he stated he couldn’t say more than that about the situation. Later that month, the developers announced the title was officially pushed back into 2021.

Grenier still isn’t saying for sure when Apex Legends might release, but he did take to Twitter again earlier this week to tease an announcement. He was asked by yet another follower for some information about when the game is expected to launch. Grenier wasn’t specific about the release date, but did respond that he would have some news on the subject “very soon.”

With Season 8 of Apex Legends set to kick off on February 2, some in the community, including several Twitter users who joined the thread where Grenier teased news; posited this would be a perfect time to also launch the Switch port.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with Switch and mobile versions currently in development
