On June 14, mobile gamers were treated to the Season 1 update called Cold Snap for Apex Legends Mobile. With the launch of this update, players can now experience the new Climatizer Town Takeover on the World’s Edge map, along with a new “frosty grenade” and Battle Pass. In addition to these highlights, the developer revealed that a fan-favorite character from the console and PC versions of the game is now available on mobile devices.

According to the update from Respawn Entertainment, Loba, the Translocating Thief, is now available as a playable character in Apex Legends Mobile. However, she is not simply making the jump to mobile platforms. Instead, the developer noted that players can unlock legend progression perks for Loba in Apex Legends Mobile that change up her gameplay. For example, one of her perks allows her to steal player banners.
For gamers wanting to play as Loba, she is available after reaching level 25 in the Season 1 Battle Pass. However, the Legend can be unlocked immediately from the store regardless of Battle Pass level starting on Thursday, meaning that the teleporting Legend should become a frequent combatant on the battlefield in the coming days.
This news regarding Loba arriving in Apex Legends Mobile is likely exciting for many fans of the franchise. While the mobile version of the battle royale has introduced a new Legend to the series called Fade, there were some glaring omissions at launch. In fact, only 10 Legends were playable at release, a far stretch from the 21 currently available in the base game. This recent addition of Loba likely gives some fans hope that more classic characters will eventually make their way over to the mobile version of the battle royale.
It will be interesting to see how the Season 1 Cold Snap update for Apex Legends Mobile is received by fans in the weeks ahead. While Apex Legends is not the only battle royale on the market with a mobile version, the developers seem to be making a solid effort to make it stand out from among the crowd. For example, Respawn Entertainment noted that even more updates are planned for Apex Legends Mobile in the coming days. Hopefully, this continued support results in a satisfying gameplay experience for those jumping into the action on mobile devices.
Apex Legends Mobile is available to play on Android and iOS devices.
