In order to gain the self-revive ability, players will need to find a legendary Knockdown Shield. This is by no means a simple task in Apex Legends, but it is worth mentioning that supply drops are known to carry gold tier (Legendary) items. It is also possible for a Legendary knockdown shield to spawn with Lifeline’s care package, though it is far less likely. Another way to find legendary items is to check around hot zones and high-tier loot spawns, which are varied across the map.
As players may note (as seen in the image below), the Apex Legends item carries a special ability, as do all legendary items. The legendary Knockdown Shield comes with the Resurrection ability, which as the name suggests, allows players to get up when down. It takes the same amount of time to self-revive as it does for a teammate to revive, so players will want to be wary of any nearby enemies when doing so.
Under the right circumstances, this special ability can be the difference between victory and loss, as the fighting grows more and more intense during the final circles of the ring. During these final firefights, Apex Legends players are less likely to finish a player off because it throws off the ability to keep up with any remaining squads.
It may only be a week old, but Apex Legends is off to a powerful start, with many wondering where the title intends to go from here. Thankfully, developer Respawn Entertainment has previously revealed a roadmap showcasing season one of the game kick-starting in March and plans for this to be a ten-year game.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
