News of the Apex Legends connection issues first started early Saturday morning and persisted throughout the afternoon. Players getting dropped from matches and an inability to connect to a lobby are the most prominent issues that seem to be affecting Apex Legends right now. Granted, not everyone is seeing these issues; plenty of players are able to get online right now.
While Respawn has yet to discuss what could be causing the issues, it’s likely a byproduct of Apex Legends’ popularity. The free-to-play battle royale title just launched this past Monday and has hit some impressive milestones - like 10m unique players - since then. But this is the first true weekend day for the game, where player count is likely to be at its highest.
The good news is those issues have not been affecting everyone and they haven’t taken Respawn that long to address. Battle royale games need flexible development support to survive and compete, and thus far Respawn has, at the very least, been listening. When the first major balance update will release, however, is unclear. First, the team needs to make sure that next weekend runs a bit smoother than this one.
