However, Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment has been well aware of this and recently pushed an intended fix for these issues. Along with a few other fixes (such as Gibraltar’s shield being able to absorb more damage), both Gibraltar and Caustic received a new passive ability known as Fortified. This was intended to give each character a universal, passive 10% damage reduction, but instead of reducing the damage, it is simply mitigating it elsewhere.
When hit, this perk is meant to reduce damage received and would greatly improve each character’s role in the meta. Yet when this damage hits a character’s shield, instead of being blocked, it is coming out of the character’s health. In other words, the damage is simply going through the shield now and hitting health (the 10% anyway) instead of resulting in reduced damage for the two Apex Legends tanks.
The good news is that developer Respawn Entertainment is well aware of these issues. When the community raised their concerns about this particular bug, the developer community manager Jay Frechette stated: “Hey folks, I don’t have ETA but we’re aware and working on a fix internally that we’re testing.” This hopefully means more Gibraltars and Caustics will be running around before Apex Legends adds its second season 1 character.
Speaking of the official season 1, we’ve put together this guide on how to reach level 110 on the Battle Pass for Apex Legends. It requires some steady patience, but with two months to go, there should hopefully be plenty of time. Fixing this bug for Caustic and Gibraltar, however, will also go a long way for that character XP bonus.
Apex Legends is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
