For some, Apex can be as fun as it is frustrating. From server problems to characters getting nerfed, issues arise every season that cause the community to be up in arms. And Season 9 is no exception, with the new Arenas game mode and the new legend, Valkyrie, who’s pretty versatile. Apex Legends memes can be painfully relatable, so tread with caution.
10 When A Teammate Peeks The Kraber
Yes, we’ve all been there, and accidents do happen. Sometimes, teammates will peek an enemy knowing fully well that the enemy has a Kraber. Peeking an enemy with an R301 or a Spitfire when the enemy has a Kraber is never a good idea. Sorry, assault rifles just won’t be able to do 250 damage as fast as Kraber carriers will. And if the enemy gets a pick with a Kraber, it’s an easy push to wipe the squad. This holds especially true in ranked, where players are more careful and prefer to plan out their attacks.
And a good Kraber player will keep their distance, knowing that they have a better scope and that a 3x or 4x scope on an AR just isn’t going to work quite as well as theirs at range. So do teammates a favor and ping enemies with Krabers, but also…just don’t peek that thing. Send out a decoy instead—that’s what holograms are for.
9 When Valkyrie Takes Aerial Superiority
Since Valkyrie’s release and Horizon’s tragic nerf, a lot of Horizon and Octane mains have started maining Valkyrie. This is for good reason, as Valkyrie’s flight-based passive is easily controlled and has a shorter cooldown than Octane’s jump pad and Horizon’s gravity lift. It’s like Valkyrie players have a mini gravity lift on their backs to use whenever they want—and enemies can’t follow in their trail.

To add insult to injury, Valkyrie’s ultimate is also incredibly useful. She can get teammates higher in the air than Octane or Horizon ever could. So Valkyrie, aka the Pharah of Apex Legends, is the ruler of the skies in Season 9. Her nerf caused some frustration to players, but she’s still one of best mobility-based characters in the game.
8 When The Octane Feeds Then Disconnects
Players who want to drop hot and play aggressively often choose Octane because of his ability to get in and out of fights quicker with his tactical ability, Stim. His ultimate, the Launch Pad, can also provide an almost-silent way to dive unsuspecting enemies and take them by surprise. Unfortunately, however, many Octane players do not look before they leap and end up in hot water.
In Season 9, this Octane stereotype has made him the new “Sweaty Wraith.” With the same amount of aggression but with even less game sense, feeding Octane players are known for running away from their slower teammates across the map, trying to 1v3 a squad by themselves, dying immediately and then ragequitting the moment they are knocked. Sadly, this toxic and nonsensical behavior sabotages matches.
7 When Lifeline Wants The Gold Bag
Now that Lifeline’s kit has been reworked for Season 9, she no longer has a shield when her drone revives teammates. While there were downsides to her shield, many Lifeline players have not adapted their playstyle to her new kit. Before, Lifeline players could get away with reviving teammates in the midst of an open battle. Many Lifelines also used the shield to protect themselves.
Even now that the shield is gone, Lifeline players still attempt to revive teammates in the middle of the battlefield. The downed teammate is usually killed mid-revive and blames the Lifeline.

So some players now prefer to keep the golden bag, especially players who choose Gibraltar and Mirage. Gibraltar’s dome makes him a better candidate for the golden bag than Lifeline. Mirage’s invisible revive can also be invaluable in the right situation, making him another better candidate for the golden bag.
6 When The Matchmaking Is Very Unbalanced
The matchmaking system has continued to frustrate Apex players in Season 9, especially in the new Arenas game mode. Low-level players who have never played ranked sometimes find themselves up against max-level, Predator-ranked players.
Sadly, the game’s matchmaking system is not perfect. At times, the disparity in stats between Apex players is actually comical, leading the community to create this perfect meme of Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul, where Floyd Mayweather is the Apex Predator and Logan Paul is the level 10 Apex noob.
5 When The Arenas Team Runs All Spitfires
Much of the Apex Legends community has complained across Reddit, Twitter and Twitch about the state of the Spitfire weapon. Currently, the Spitfire has low recoil, decent damage, functional hipfire and a very large magazine size. Some players believe that using a Spitfire allows a player with poor aim to beat more skilled players, who may choose guns with higher recoil and smaller magazines.

There is some truth to this. Some teams in Arenas will all run Spitfires in a last-ditch effort to change the tide of a match. It’s become so common that this meme was created. The blue outline around the Spitfire signifies that players are using “level 2” Spitfires, which are purchasable in Arenas games. But there are better ways to win Arenas matches. And don’t forget, legend choice matters too. Choosing a good team composition for Arenas can help secure wins.
4 When A Teammate Is A Spitfire Andy
Some players love the Spitfire, especially those who come from games where there’s less gun recoil. But the Apex Legends community disapproves of these “Spitfire Andys.” Instead, the Apex community strongly prefers players who use the Flatline and the Wingman.
The Flatline has recoil and does great damage. But recoil isn’t the end of the world, because one player recently discovered a trick for handling recoil patterns. Another heavy ammo choice is the Wingman, which has a slow rate of fire but does great damage if the player aims effectively. The Spitfire has been stigmatized, so they are many memes about players who use the Spitfire in Season 9.
3 When The 30-30 Repeater Spawns Everywhere
The 30-30 Repeater is a heavy ammo weapon introduced back in Season 8. Players either love or hate this weapon. Many love its precision and high poke damage at range, while others prefer automatic weapons. Either way, the community has noticed that the 30-30 Repeater spawns a lot on Apex maps.
This can be frustrating in ranked matches, where hot drops require close-range weapons as players fight enemies in confined spaces. The 30-30 Repeater has poor hipfire, and is only useful at close range if it has the Shatter Caps hop-up. Otherwise, players are much better off with a Wingman, a shotgun or an SMG like the Volt or the R99 for close-range combat.
2 When Wattson Doesn’t Get Chosen
Many Wattson players are begging for another buff to her kit. Recently, there was an issue where her fences stopped stunning players, but that has thankfully been resolved. Apex devs also gave Wattson a passive shield regeneration for herself. This is useful, but the recharge rate is very slow. Because many in the community believe that her kit is in a lackluster state, this meme was born.
Wattson’s pickrate has been on the decline, which is unfortunate considering her ultimate can still be very useful. Some believe her pickrate decline is also partly due to the speed-based dive meta of Octane and Valkyrie. And Caustic’s nerfs makes the once-powerful combo of a Caustic and Wattson bunker nearly obsolete.
1 When “Dibs” Pings Are Ignored By Greedy Teammates
Apex Legends has one of the best ping systems of any FPS game. However, sometimes players don’t listen to each other’s pings and will steal items that other players have claimed. This meme is here to remind players that at the end of the day, others can still take dibsed items. Apex Legends is a first come, first serve kind of game when it comes to loot. In true battle royale fashion, all players must fend for themselves.
